In Kalej Valley, Ashok Syangbo has watched heavy monsoon rains trigger floods and landslides, made worse by deforestation and clogged streams.

Today, change is taking root.

With guidance from ATREE, Ashok and his community are planting trees on barren land, letting roots hold the soil and protect the valley from further loss.

Through #MountainsToMangroves, communities are restoring the land to stay rooted, even as the rains grow stronger.
