Girls are left out of the mix of education so often and older women often never found an opportunity to access literacy. Did you know more than 2/3rds of the world’s illiterate population comprises of women? A few girls are changing that in Mishrauli, Uttar Pradesh. With their school enrolment campaign, they are constantly bringing in girls that are likely to drop out of school and counselling their parents to enrol them in school. Beyond this, Pinki and her gang of friends are now tutoring 50-60 unlettered women. Today, they can write their names, sign on important documents and are even empowered to help their children with their studies. Do you know a literacy champion like Pinki?
