Protecting it means protecting ourselves.” In Ilam, Nepal, Chitra Thami and her community once depended on forest herbs like Chiraito, Khokim, and Chimphing to heal wounds and cure fever. But years of overgrazing and unchecked use had left the land barren. Now, through the Red Panda Network and the Mountains to Mangroves project, the community is restoring these forests.Replanting native trees, protecting wildlife, and reviving ancient knowledge of medicinal plants.
