Bhutan Alternatives aims to reduce e-waste by recycling and refurbishing old cartridges. They serve as a one-stop firm where individuals can purchase eco-friendly, high-quality, and affordable printer toner cartridges. Bhutan Alternatives reduces the landfill waste generated by discarded e-waste and provides employment opportunities for the youth. They have managed to decrease printer cartridge imports by 65% and have created jobs for around 480 young people.
In 2015, Leki Dawa initiated Bhutan Alternatives with the goal of recycling e-waste to prevent it from ending up in landfills and to generate income opportunities for the economically disadvantaged sections of society.
