In Koyra Upazila, Bangladesh the severe degradation of the Sundarbans pushed tigers into deadly, desperate contact with local fishermen. But community caretakers like Rubel are fighting back, not with weapons, but with trees.

Through the Friendship NGO and MountainsToMangroves afforestation project, locals are actively rebuilding the mangrove habitat. A restored forest means wildlife has a secure home, and a secure home for wildlife means fishermen can finally harvest fish and honey without risking their lives.
