There were no plants here, only salty water… we survived on rainwater. In coastal Bengal, Minati Sarkar has lived through cyclones that tore apart homes and lives. There was little protection from the storms; survival meant tying houses with ropes and taking shelter in cyclone centres. But today, through Friendship and the Mountains to Mangroves initiative, Minati and her community are planting nurseries of native trees. That was cut down long ago. These new saplings help to hold back the tide, restore the soil, provide jobs, and bring people together. What was once a barren, salty land is now turning green with hope — for families, for futures, and for the planet. Join us in supporting the #MountainsToMangroves initiative.
