Takachar has developed a technology that drastically scales the transformation of waste biomass into marketable bio-products for rural communities. This innovation, co-founded by Vidyut Mohan and Kevin Jung in 2015, significantly reduces air pollution caused by the burning of agricultural waste. Farmers, instead of burning their stubble, can now add value to the waste by converting it into biomass and fertilisers. So far, Takachar has reached over 10,000 farmers and processed 15,000 tonnes of crop and forest residue. In 2020, Vidyut Mohan was named in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list and in 2021, he won the Earthshot Prize in the Clean Air Category.
