Gobardhan Ash was the most pathbreaking artist of the 1920s. Born in 1907, he went on to carve a niche for himself. Despite having studied at prestigious places Such as the Fine Arts government school of arts in Kolkata and the government school of arts and crafts in Chennai, he was an artist know to fight for his individuality and artistry. Ash rejected the two schools of art in India at the time and worked relentlessly on making his own path. He explored issues that held meaning to him using his art as a medium. He refused to limit his artistry and style just to fit in. Quest for this style of art is what lead him to be such a revolutionary and explore social realism in India.
