Over 300 people turned up to make a strong protest...
against the Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar's proposal to amend the Punjab Land Preservation Act (PLPA)
Most of the Aravalli's in southern Haryana belongs to the panchayat and are protected under the Punjab Land Preservation Act (PLPA),1900
The amndement will destroy almost 60000+ acres of forest cover, which is 50% of the entire Aravalli range in South Haryana in the districts of Gurugram, Faridabad, Nuh, Mehendargarh and Rewari
It's important to know that Haryana has the lowest forest cover in the whole of India
This amendment will also make PLPA not applicable in urban areas of Gurgaon and Faridabad, where master plans have been passed and open's up the entire zone of the Aravalli forests to real estate development
Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday claimed that the amendment proposed in the Punjab Land Preservation Act was aimed at “protecting Aravallis”
