Indian-origin author Avni Doshi’s book, Burnt Sugar has made it to the Booker Prize long-list for 2020

The 2020 Booker Prize longlist has been unveiled

All 13 books on the long-list known as the Booker Dozen, were chosen from 162 novels published in the UK or Ireland between October 2019 and September 2020.

Hilary Mantel’s 'The Mirror and the Light', has been long-listed for the Booker prize, putting the British novelist in the running to win for an unprecedented third time

Mantel previously won the prize twice for the first two novels in the trilogy

Authors like Tsitsi Dangarembga and Kiley Reid are also in the running for the prestigious prize

Indian-origin writer Avni Doshi was also in the longlist of 13 writers

This year’s longlist features eight debut novelists (Diane Cook, Avni Doshi, Gabriel Krauze, Kiley Reid, Douglas Stuart, Brandon Taylor, Sophie Ward, and C Pam Zhang)

9. Brandon Taylor - Real Life

10. Anne Tyler - Redhead by The Side of The Road

11. Douglas Stuart - Shuggie Bain

12. Sophie Ward - Love and Other Thought Experiments

12. C Pam Zhang - How Much of These Hills is Gold

13. The 13 titles will be narrowed down to a shortlist of six in September

The winner is announced in November, taking home the £50,000 ($63,000) prize money
