Pooja Das Sarkar is a writer and filmmaker who believes that telling stories can make a difference in the world at large and to artists themselves in understanding the world better. After completing her master’s in English Literature with a minor in Film Studies from Jadavpur University, Pooja trained to be a documentary filmmaker at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. In 2018, she studied narrative filmmaking at Prague Film School and currently runs her own creative agency in Mumbai. She has been associated with making documentaries, narrative commercials and short films for the last decade for a variety of organisations and issues. While her focus has been on cause-related films and creating media for non-profits, she has also directed commercials for brands and businesses. She is the creator and curator of the social media platform Filmwali, which archives and documents the work of women in Indian cinema.
