Syeda Ambia Zahan is a journalist and consultant based in Guwahati, India. Since the past decade, she has been extensively covering gender issues, children's rights, culture, geopolitics, and cross-border terrorism in Southeast Asia. She is also a seasoned political analyst with experience in designing successful political campaigns for general and major assembly elections in India. Syeda specialises in defence journalism and is the first ever female defence correspondent from Northeast India certified by the Ministry of Defence, Govt of India. Outside of her professional pursuits, Syeda is deeply involved in animal welfare and rescue efforts. She is a pet parent who actively advocates for the adoption of Indian dogs rather than purchasing foreign breeds from pet stores. She has been running a feeding drive for stray animals since the onset of the first COVID-19 lockdown and aims to continue her efforts. In her leisure time, Syeda enjoys listening to podcasts, reading war novels, and watching movies and documentary series.
