Born and brought up in Uttarkashi and Dehradun, Himalaya is a civil engineer by profession with a specialisation in Environmental Engineering. He runs 'The Himalayan Experience' - a design & construction consulting firm. He started his journey of social welfare through a group called Make A Difference (now MAD by BTD) and continued on to become a founding member of Doon Volunteers - a community welfare group formed during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The main focus of Doon Volunteers was to enable the remote villages of Uttarakhand to handle the pandemic better and to support the struggling health infrastructure of the mountains. Looking towards the future, Doon Volunteers is partnering with Adobe and Aasraa Trust to strengthen the primary and community health centres in the districts of Uttarakhand. DV's main focus will be to equip and train the frontline workers of the mountains - ASHA workers, so that they are ready to handle the future waves of COVID-19 better
