Vinay ‌Datla ‌is ‌an Indian documentary filmmaker, director and cinematographer. He has more than 10 years of experience in visual storytelling across the broad genres of wildlife, factual, investigative, travel and people-based. He has worked with global broadcasters and streaming services including BBC, Disney+, National Geographic, Netflix, Terra Mater and Bloomberg, etc. Vinay’s filmmaking is defined by his strong sense of visuals and visual storytelling. His naturalistic style of capturing moments with people comes from a sensitive observation of cultures and difficult documentary environments. He has worked on high-end wildlife, nature and conservation documentaries and films, investigative docs, social impact stories and brand films. He has experience in working with people in remote areas and high-speed shooting environments. He is a strong researcher with the versatility to shift between various visual styles. He approaches people with a people-friendly demeanour. Education Vinay is a graduate of an MA in Wildlife Filmmaking at the University of the West of England. Before making a full-fledged career out of filmmaking, he had a career as an engineer. He has a specific interest in stories that are at the intersection of people, nature and culture. He is particularly interested in unique people stories, getting access and perspectives that go against the grain. Vinay works based out of India, with international teams on productions in India and across Asia. He uses his skills in cinematography, visual storytelling and observation to bring stories to life through his lens.
