Sustainable tourism refers to the kind of tourism where the traveller takes full account of the current and future environmental impacts of his/her travel. Often travellers leave their waste behind while visiting Himalayas. This impacts the host communities where they often do not have proper waste processing/recycling facilities around. Working on these lines, Pradeep Sangwan, an environment enthusiast initiated building Material Recovery Facilities across Himachal Pradesh. Here the waste can be segregated and re-used for various applications such as building material for road construction. Check-out his story here.
