Vibha Vinod

Difficult circumstances led Vibha Vinod to fend for her child along. To find a source of income for a woman in rural India seemed like a tedious task and Vibha's journey was full of challenges. She landed in a self-help group training and thus began her story of finding employment opportunities for women like her. Today, she is a samooh sakhi at the Lead India Mahila self-help group that makes several items from local produce and is making each of the woman associated with her SHG self-employed.

The primary focus of her SHG shifted from smaller products to making masks at a large scale when the coronavirus pandemic hit India. From women migrant workers to her existing SHG community, she has been leading handloom trainings on making salwars, saris for the local community and has now diversified to stitching school uniforms for school children.

Vibha has previously helped women to open bank accounts and also facilitated establishing toilets in the local villages. Her journey of financial independence and inclusion has given inspiration to hundreds of women to start their own businesses through self-help groups and promotes women empowerment.
