Chanchala Devi’s son Munna, was diagnosed as a Severe Acute Malnourished (SAM) child. However, since the COVID-19 pandemic, his parents have been unable to support his treatment or nutrition. Local community workers have limited sources that don’t extend beyond the district-level Nutrition Rehabilitation Centres and Anganwadi centres. But the lockdown has rendered even those distant and seldom accessible resources shut. Chanchala and her husband are struggling to find a way to treat their child as well as ensure that he recovers fully to become a healthy child. To break the vicious cycle of malnutrition, it is the responsibility of the community support to work in tandem with local government to provide support at the grassroots level and contribute to the health and progress of these children.
