In this episode of Vayu Sakhi, our destination was the interior of Punjab. We visited a small village, Jaitu in Bathinda, where we spoke to the women about a multitude of problems around the farming sector. While stubble burning remains a huge contributing factor when it comes to air pollution, pesticide and fertiliser also affect the lives of the people here.
Sarbjeet Kaur, a resident of Channa, Punjab, has spent years in the farming sector, and now she is advocating for organic farming to reduce the usage of pesticides used in agriculture, and spreading awareness about the health and environmental problems one faces due to stubble burning. She is providing farmers with an array of solutions in order to fight air pollution.
