Since before the era of Genghis Khan, Mongolia’s nomadic herders have lived with some of the harshest winter conditions on earth. But in recent years, they’ve been hit by extraordinarily severe winters that have killed animals in the millions. Researchers have linked the increasing power of these disasters, known in Mongolia as dzud, with atmospheric disruption caused by melting Arctic ice. This is the seventh short film from my 15-month journey exploring the responses to climate change of individuals, communities, governments and businesses throughout the world.
