With the number of deaths due to coronavirus on the rise, the problem of performing last rites as per their religion has become a cause of concern for their next of kin in India. Mercy Mission, a multi-religious charitable organisation in the southern state of Karnataka, has set a sterling example in communal harmony and fellow feeling by helping people give their kin a decent funeral amid the pandemic restrictions. Their volunteers, called the Mercy Angels, work at cremation and burial grounds to provide a dignified send-off to the dead as per their religious rites.
