While humans continue to deal with the coronavirus outbreak including cases of new strains of the virus sprouting, birds have also been affected with one of the deadliest bird flus ever seen, also called the avian influenza virus. Avian influenza is the name used to describe a viral infection that is reported mostly in birds, but has the potential to affect humans and other animals. This leaves us with an important question, should we eat poultry products?
According to the WHO, thorough cooking of poultry products at or above 70° Celsius is crucial, so that absolutely no meat remains raw. This ensures that there is no active virus remaining if the live bird has been infected.
