Under The Same Sun  COP Premiere

Under The Same Sun: Gujarat is a community-led video storytelling campaign co-created by PLUC and Self Employed Women&rsquo;s Association under the Social Saheli initiative, launched at COP30.
While SEWA has trained thousands of rural women as solar technicians, a critical gap remained&mdash;recognition and visibility. Women were often confined to peripheral roles, with their technical skills overlooked.
The campaign addresses this by enabling women to document their own work through mobile-first storytelling. Across Gujarat, 1,000+ women captured real-time solar labour&mdash;installation, maintenance, repair, and operations&mdash;creating stories in local languages, later subtitled for wider reach.
With 3000+ videos and a reach of 3 million, the campaign has become one of India&rsquo;s largest visual archives of women-led solar work. Distributed across digital platforms and supported by offline screenings, it engaged both grassroots communities and clean-energy stakeholders.
Beyond visibility, the project strengthened women&rsquo;s professional identity, increased community recognition, and demonstrated a ready, skilled workforce for India&rsquo;s energy transition&mdash;including participation from groups such as salt workers and Rabari communities.
Under The Same Sun makes a clear case: India&rsquo;s clean-energy future depends not just on jobs, but on recognising the women already powering it.
