With the COVID_19 pandemic, let’s look at the status of Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) children in one of the worst-hit states with malnutrition -Jharkhand. Anganwadi workers and ASHA workers are struggling with limited resources for take-home-rations (THR) and consultations at the limited capacity Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) at the district level. This series looks at the current state of Anganwadi centers, disruption in ration supplies, and NRC level treatment for SAM children. Our series explores the possibility of a community-level solution that can temporarily tackle the absence of government support and, more importantly, looks at what is the best model to treat these children.
