Under The Same Sun is a documentary film co-created by PLUC and the Self Employed Women’s Association under the Social Saheli initiative, and launched at COP30.

The film captures a powerful, ground-level view of India’s clean energy transition—told not through experts or data, but through the eyes of the women already driving it.

Across Gujarat, over 1,000 women document their own journeys in solar work—installation, maintenance, repair, and operations—using mobile-first storytelling. Shot in local languages and later subtitled, the film brings together these real-time, self-recorded moments into a deeply personal and collective narrative.

With over 3,000 video entries forming its core, Under The Same Sun emerges as one of India’s largest visual archives of women-led solar labour.

Beyond visibility, the film explores how access to skills and storytelling reshapes identity, dignity, and recognition. It reveals a workforce that is not emerging, but already present—skilled, resilient, and often overlooked.
